Santorini

Santorini, Thira or Strongyli (former name) is an island located in the southern Aegean Sea with the capital Fira and is known worldwide for its volcano, which is still characterized as active. Before the great volcanic catastrophe of prehistoric times, Santorini was round and had the name Strongyli, while later it acquired the names Kallisti or Kallisto (from the ancient kallisti “the most beautiful”), Filiteri or Filotera, Kalavria, Tharisti, Karisti and Rhenia. It has about 40 settlements that cover much of the island. Its villages are built based on the traditional Cycladic architectural style and its cave buildings blend harmoniously with the natural landscape.

The unique caldera, its volcanic beaches, its traditional delicacies and its famous wines, make it one of the most important destinations in the world to enjoy romantic moments and unique hospitality.
